Sanjana Jain gone how many days for Shami

The gusty lady officer who made Tukojirao Pawar go to jail for misbehaving ( he suddenly has a chest pain ans was taken to hospital is a different matter) has been transferred to inconsequential posting following here refusal to stop action against irregularities in a sweet shop whose owner was minister supporter

Now let us see a similar officer in Indore i.e. SP Shami lasts before this government which is becoming more like congress governments of past with each passing day.

This person has been doing some good work against all odds and despite his hands being tied but it would be interesting if excuses like this or this are found to get rid of him.

Who cares about forests?

I have written earlier about disappearance of tigers and alleged corruption in purchase of guns

Now this news about number of crimes in different forest areas

Give us publicity , people may go hungry

It has not been many days since we had a pension scam in indore.

Now when pension is being distributed through post offices, our IMC is at peak of its incompetence.

1. cards are not ready
2. ready but lost , no one knows where they are
3. worst is worst color photograph ( does it not increase cost??) of mayor and one parshad ( why on earth ???) on it but black and white photograph of old person which is not recognizable :)

I sometimes wonder should not we put an IQ test as requirement for our representatives??

why indore traders refuse to improve

I had written earlier as to why huge cash transaction done by traders in Indore are open invitation to robberies.

and now new incident in anaj mandi once again underlines that one has to eliminate an ill completely. without stopping their black market transactions on which they evade taxes it would be futile on part of traders to think they will not be sitting ducks for robbers.

more interestingly,

1. these people refuse to follow traffic rules and do parking on road wherever they want, when police intervene their political masters are always there to pull strings - result thieves escaped in this melodrama

2. in whole area no one saw their face or number of vehicle - a highly suspicious claim and then they want police to protect them

this is a very peculiar social group which bends all norms for its own benefit and then blames others for loss.

a case of sulking child

Indore BJP parshad aka councillor

One BJP corporator from Annapurna area is in news now a days very frequently.
year ago I read "raag darbari" of shrilal shukla and it showed how decentralisation of power will mean creating local kings and feudal lords in India. now some deeds or misdeeds of this local king

1. a temple encroaching road in front of his house
2. beat blue out of home guard jawan deputed at footi kothi water tank
3. had altercation with officials at footi kothi zone
4. had altercation with women who came to his house for discussing water scarcity and broke glasses of their vehicle.

His only claim to fame is being nephew to a prominent hindu leader of bjp who has passes away and now whose wife is MLA

most interesting was this boastful comment of him when reporter asked if his people broke tha back glass of vehicle in which women came,
his reply was
"if it were my people ,theey would have broken all glasses not only back glasses"

Mayor of Indore or leader of BJP?

This is why local government should not be in hand of people from a particular party as they are always susceptible to party pressures and compulsions rather than working for interest of the people they are supposed to represent.

An SP with spine : SP Shami of Indore

I always used to wonder that how 'management by example' can work in practice. I am more a believer in individual school i.e. if a person is good, he will do his work fine even if world around him is not functioning and if he is bad no matter what incentive you give he will always cheat, but this may be true for only 10% of population on either end of spectrum .rest 80% of us are mere mortals and our behaviour is driven or conditioned by out surroundings to a large extent and conduct of those who are leader amongst us is one of those factors.

SO when a political leader condones corruption or abuses his authority, his followers do not have compunction in wreaking havoc with system on grass roots.

Our society works mostly on notional authority. If everyone decides to be a law breaker no amount of vigilance can stop crime , but if there is fear of authority then system will work and after a long time we have an SP who has defeated every moves of political bosses of Indore.

Some of his interesting deeds are

1.clever use of election time ( when model conduct is in force) to execute pending warrants. No less than 3 congress candidates and one BJP candidate including congress city president were roaming free in city while there were warrants issued against them. This speaks a lot about police politico nexus and how both parties help each other when it comes to their common interests.
Son of former congress city chief Kripashankar shukla ( who is also infamous for not paying his electricity dues) was also caught after much drama.

Reducing number of outstanding warrants from 2800 to 2000 in 4 months is a good achievement.

2. Area domination march - for the first time something that is in rule books but was never being used is being used now.

3. He even tried to reform traffic habits of city people , but failed primarily because people of Indore are really ungoverned lot and they are ready to lose their near and dear ones to accidents, spend time and money in traffic jams but not follow rules.

4. He got rid of useless schemes of past SPs such as so called family chancellors which was just parking lot for women from connected people and waste public money.

6. Indore police is the only
government website
in whole MP where there is FAQ section and someone really responds on it. At last there is use of IT in an intelligent way in some government department.

7. I really became his fan in liquor shop issue. Politicians of both side have connection with liquor lords and don't hide it and never support normal public. Even at the height of election our MP Sumitra Mahajan was at most ambivalent about the issue while MLAs simply chose to sit silent as it was not their election time. Even opposition was interested in only raising rubble rather than adopting legal routes. collector and other people were taking shield in name of government policy
but if there is a will there is a way and Mr shami showed this when he used some obscure rule of voluminous police code of India and shut the shops. Though this could last only a day as alcohol runs thicker than blood not only in Indore but also in Bhopal's politicians veins.

and last straw came few days back ,when so called self appointed lord of indore 'bhajan singer' summoned police brass to residency 'kothi' instead of going to police HQ in a feudalistic style and gave them sermons and asked to catch petty criminals with both hands tied and bow in reverence in front of every political leader whenever he or she chooses to visit a police station to get one of their cronies free or break a law or simply create a ruckus.

I don't know how many days this gentleman will be allowed to last here but if he plays his cards well and works on insecurity of Shivraj singh against indore leaders then he can prolong his stay and hopefully do something good for Indore people

Let light and truth and if possible law prevail .

A real youth leader ' Meenakshi natarajan'

Well let me put a disclaimer first I am a die hard congress opponent and till few days back was an ardent supporter of BJP

Now why I am saying what I am saying is because of two reason, first she is 'young' in real sense of term - not 45 year old 'yuva hriday samrat' and secondly unlike media darlings of sachin, omar, jyoti, dushyant, milind, priyanka, supriya, kanomazi, rahul, akhilesh and countless others she is not from a political family.

If I am not mistaken I can guess how this 'madarasi' sounding name has got planted in hindi heartland politics.

If I remember correctly she was debating champion (national level) and a star speaker in her college days at holkar college Indore. ( I read about her in college magazine of my elder brother) and my guess is during those she must have been noticed by some high level congress leader or still better rahul baba himself because I have been hearing about her as active in youth congress since last few years.

This is one advantage of dynastic policies that changes which would be difficult to bring otherwise can be brought by prince or princess. So Rahul Gandhi succeeded in getting a good orator and thinker ( logical corollary?? she must be writing her speeches herself) a ticket for loksabha which would not have been possible otherwise.

and latest media reports point that she did not misuse campaign fund allocated by congress central command and has even retruned the unspent amount.

But alas she will lose the elction .. and she is in wrong party

but I hope to hear more about her in near future.

here is a real young turk

Guru Govind Singh and others..

Indore is full of self proclaimed leaders and sometimes their audacity and arrogance surpasses even those of national level.

One such example is Bhajan singer. To emphasize that he was the last powerful mayor and now everything happens according to his wishes only he said he was guru govind singh and Indore Municipal corporation was guru granth sahib.

Agreed not a leaf turns in city without your permission ( as we saw during voting or opening of large number of liquor shops or non arrival of any IT company in city) , but spare the gods at least.

Role of Indore media is also interesting. One often hears in national media that sonia or rahul are never asked uncomfortable questions. Almost same thing can be said about Indore media vis a vis KV.

No one ever asks him :
1. How police which could not control riots was there to beat demonstrators.
2. How no IT company came to Indore in last 5 years when he was IT minister
3. Why Indore is the only city in whole country where every road is being made by cement
4. Why no planning was done for water management of city when he was mayor
5. What happened to probe of pension scam?
6. what happened to mill land?
7. why crime is increasing in city day by day? and why large no of liquor shops are being opened?

Who let the tigers out?

May 07, 01:44 am

Power corrupts - BJP in Indore

it has been only 15 days of my stay in Indore and hardly a week since election got over ( so politicians got a free hand) but daily news paper are full of deeds or misdeeds of our elected representatives and BJP has left congress behind in the pace with which it is becoming congress itself. some major happenings are

1. two councilors fight with each other for water. firearms are used but no case registered by police.

2. two cronies of bhajan singer fight with each other for a road mishap. no arrest

3. MLA and BJP district president misbehave with TI and let an suspected criminal go free whom police had called for inquiry in jewelery theft case

4. Councilor and nephew of BJP MLA beat hell out of a home guard constable who prevented them from breaking queue for filling water tanker.

5. someone cheats traders in name of a BJP MLA by demanding money for religious function ( it means this thing happens)

6. liquor shops running openly and without any hindrance in city, SP tried to intervene but rebuffed. All MLAs silent

7. daily fight for water in city. All MLAs absent

8. BRTS delayed like anything. contract given to shadowy companies. None of the MLA or councilor protests

9. Daily deaths due to road accidents. No measures of road safety. cattle roaming freely in city. once again no MLA or councilor has any constructive idea

Indore mayor caught almost doing a scam

now question is if there are no students ,then whom do this doctor couple let use their clinic.

Mahesh Joshi

Q. Who was the only person from Madhya Pradesh to take part in Beijing olympic 2008?
Ans. Mahesh Joshi

in his capacity as president of Madhya pradesh olympic association.

I don't think anything needs to be said further

However there is this old story of India today when he was shjavascript:void(0)airman of IDA

interesting thing is it seems so true even today just characters have to be changed

Dubious Deals

Two land-related murders prove that Indore is fast gaining the gangland image of Mumbai.

By Bharat Desai

The people of Indore love to call their city 'Mini Mumbai' because of its enterprising spirit and bustling nature. But the comparison is proving true in more ways than one. The business transacted in the city may not match the volumes of the western metropolis, but Indore is certainly acquiring the gangland image of its more illustrious cousin, as the recent murders of two municipal corporators have proved. These land-related murders, within a span of one week, came on the heels of a much-publicised public-interest petition in the high court which had exposed the disconcertingly long reach of the city's land mafia, comprising politicians, bureaucrats and construction barons.

It is fair knowledge in the city that every conceivable rule relating to building activity has been violated by the powerful clique of politicians and builders and the connections reach up to the top in the state administration. But it was BJP corporator Rajesh Joshi's murder -- his neck was slit by miscreants on August 13 -- which forced the city to sit up and take note of the dangers involved in opposing an increasingly powerful and belligerent mafia.

Joshi, it is widely believed, had paid with his life for opposing encroachments on government land by builders in Indore. Before the city could recover from the bandhs and protests that followed the murder, Ishaq, a corporator of Sanwer Municipality adjoining the city, was killed, again over a land-related dispute. "The mafia is in a position to eliminate anybody who comes in its way. It's a Mumbai-like situation," says Manohar Dalal, a lawyer who is facing threats to his life for having filed a series of petitions before the Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court against illegal construction and encroachments. It was in response to Dalal's petitions that the district administration, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Indore Development Authority (IDA) were forced last week to draw up lists of illegally-constructed buildings and encroachments on government land. The two bodies admitted to the court that there were nearly 400 illegal multi-storeyed buildings in the city -- all constructed in the '90s -- apart from about 295 unsanctioned colonies. Contrary to the popular belief that shanty-dwellers were involved in most of the encroachments, it turned out that the culprits were actually members of the city's upper-middle class. The list of colony builders and owners of high-rise buildings on encroached land reads like a virtual Who's Who of Indore politics, including both BJP and Congress leaders.

There can only be conjecture about the amount of money involved in the racket. Says IDA Director Kewal Yadav, one of the few bureaucrats believed to have resisted mafia intimIDAtion: "I have been offered Rs 2 crore to absent myself from IDA meetings. You can imagine what people who support the proposals must be making." The IDA and the IMC are reported to be under the control of Mahesh Joshi, Chief Minister Digvijay Singh's right-hand man. Mahesh faces allegations of abetting the mafia's operations. And he is not the only one. Topping the list of violators submitted to the court by the two civic bodies is Digvijay's relative, Surendra Singh Garha, who has illegally constructed a high-rise on government land.

With such powerful politicians allegedly backing the builders, the clout of the mafia is undisputed. The IDA has cancelled several of its own schemes, presumably under pressure from the builders, and shopping arcades are now coming up on land reserved for parking space and road broadening. "Earlier, the schemes were dropped by the IDA board; now instructions for cancelling construction plans come from the environment minister and the chief minister, who have passed orders saying that the consent of the board is not required for changing building plans," says a senior IDA official.

The story is the same in the IMC too. Its list of illegally-constructed buildings includes a six-storeyed structure being built by a powerful clique of builders, allegedly on the basis of a fake blueprint. Dalal estimates that nearly 40 IDA schemes involving 200 acres of prime land have been shelved and the land released for private construction during the current regime. "The building mafia in Indore is earning about Rs 500 crore every year and a sizeable portion goes into the hands of politicians in Bhopal," he says.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP MLA, talks candidly about the role played by politicians in the matter. He admits that legislators of his party have made a fortune from building activity but claims that the entire operation is masterminded by Congress leaders. On his part, Kripa Shanker Shukla, the Indore district Congress president, blames the media barons of the city for encouraging the land mafia. He says that the owners of several important publications are either builders and colonisers themselves or have close links with the land sharks. "If we squeal, the media goes on the offensive against us," he says. Ironically, Shukla himself has been accused by the BJP of patronising the mafia, a charge which he firmly denies. Colony builder Hemant Agarwal concurs: "If a builder owns a newspaper, he has a definite edge over rivals and the administration." Not surprisingly, Agarwal himself plans to launch a newspaper soon.

However, officials say it's not just the land racket that has encouraged the mafia in the town. There are more sinister forces at work. Drug-runners, for instance. Besides its bustling wholesale market and its strategic location between the two important industrial townships of Pithampur and Dewas, Indore is also located close to Mandsaur and Ratlam, which produce 60 per cent of the opium grown in the country. So the city has become an important transit point for illegal opium and its derivatives because the Malwa region borders Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Moreover, as recent seizures have shown, the booming pharmaceutical industry in and around the city could also be producing banned drugs like mandrax in large quantities. The arrest of businessman Prem Sisodiya last year for a mandrax shipment worth several crores of rupees also exposed the widespread links of the mafia. Just days before Sisodiya's arrest, the chief minister attended a religious function at his house.

There is, therefore, a strong possibility of an existing nexus between drug money, land acquisition and illegal construction. The region's links with the Mumbai underworld were exposed by the Gujarat Police last year when it unearthed a large cache of arms from Mahidpur town. The seizure, which included two dozen AK-47 rifles, was believed to be part of the consignment sent by the Dawood Ibrahim gang which landed on the Konkan coast along with rdx explosives which were used in the Bombay blasts in 1993. Significantly, the city police got to know about the recovery of arms only after the Gujarat police team finished its investigation. Subsequent interrogation has led to the disclosure of a well-knit mafia in Malwa which is engaged not only in smuggling drugs from mandsaur but also across the border into Gujarat.

After the authorities brought down a five-storeyed illegal structure with dynamite last year, there was hope that the power of the rogue builders would be curbed. But since then, the district and civic officials have shown a distinct reluctance to go after the mafia. On top of that, the state government has reserved all powers related to land use to itself.

That the mafia has invested money in land is evident from the fact that the price of land in neemuch town, which is the hub of the opium belt, equals that of Indore -- around Rs 1,000 per sq ft in residential areas. Indore's people, unable to find succour from the rapaciousness of the builders, are rapidly growing more dejected. And there can be no better example of the effect the Government's apathy has had on them than the changing attitude of die hard anti-mafia campaigners like Manohar Dalal and Kewal Yadav: both are gradually losing heart and even contemplating giving up the battle.

Tokenism

So MP government wants cheap publicity by distributing 22 laptops and 10 tv ( total cost would hardly exceed 10 lakh) while no encouragement is given to hockey players in state.

At last Bhoj university chancellor in net

I have written earlier about allegations against this gentleman .

And finally he has been suspended but interestingly on technical issues and not on corruption charges

Now there are some interesting points

1. Mr balram jakhar has done irreparable damage to higher education in state by making people of dubious distinctions or no distinction at all VC simply on the basis of their party loyalties and caste kinship. End of his tenure would be a great news for higher education in madhya pradesh.

It is really sad that someone who has been speaker of Loksabha in past can be so partisan and short sighted

2. This fellow kamlakar singh was a mere registrar and not an educationist. One thing which keeps institutes like IIT and IIM afloat is that they are run by academicians and not bureaucrats but situation is reverse in universities in Madhya Pradesh. Almost at all places registrar are more powerful than vice chancellor and in this peculiar case he has been even made vice chancellor.

3. Silence of youth and student organisation like ABVP, NSUI, and BJYM in all these means that youth politics has become a mere extension of party politics and it has no independent identity.
