Peacock

Reading this news i was reminded of my childhood when Peacock were ramapant in Indore city limits and was the only wild animal one could see in its surroundings.

My home is in city so whenever I would cycle out towards airport and Bijasan huge area between Bada Ganpati and kalani nagar used to be full of peacocks in fields and empty plots.
Now there are colonies everywhere in this area and huge real estate battles are fought for it.

Another area was dhar road and chandan nagar after gangwal bus stand but I have not been in that area for years. It is strange that only road leading to capital ( i.e. dewas road) has seen development all others i.e. dhar road, khandwa road, depalpur road are more or less left out.

but anyways this post is for peacocks whom I will miss and children of this generation will not even know what they are missing

some news is here as well.

State of health in Madhya Pradesh

http://www.safemotherhood.blogspot.com/

I came across this blog focusing on state of child and women health in state.
It is great.
I would like to mention about pic of a woman in labor who had to get down of vehicle by herself with relative with no medical staff being seen around at Guna hospital.

Health is an area which is never focus of any government or election in MP & situation in tribal areas is specially poor as I mentioned here and here & here

Khalwa is not many days old but it is erased from public memory and congress is not making it an election issue as its record is equally dismal. I remember when Diggi raja was CM , a dead body was discovered in a water tank supplying water to large part of city and when people protested his comment was "People of Indore can not adjust " or something of this nature

Even in big cities like Indore, condition of premier institutes like MP is a public knowledge. There are machines worth crores gathering dust as there is not fund to operate them, no test for AIDS before sugery so that doctors are not infected, lack of medicines

so at least in helth area in MP more things change more they remain same

Sucide by a farmer in cooprative czar Subhash yadav's area

Farmer commits suicide in Khargone
21/03/2009

A farmer committed suicide in Maiharghatti (Goganva block) in Khargone on Thursday night. He was upset because he had no money to pay the debt.

Dashrath Kushwaha, 58, had left the house saying he was going to Badgaon but consumed insecticide in his fields at Nagjhiri. He hadn't told anybody in the family about his intention to end his life.

He had taken a loan of Rs 2 lakh this included Rs 86000 from Adim Jati Sahkari Samiti for farming and a similar amount from Bank of India for tube well digging. With interest he had to pay voer Rs 2 lakh.

Though he looked depressed after the crop had failed, the family members had no idea that he could commit suicide. His son Santosh said that his father was worried about the loan for many days.

The police said that he left a suicide note asking his son to sell the small plot of land which the family holds, to get rid of the debt. "He remained tense because he had no money to pay back", said his wife.

"Had the loan being waived, he would not have taken his life", she said. The suicide is becoming a major issue in Khargone. Kushwaha was not a beneficiary of the loan waiver schemes.

Various sections have criticised the administration for insensitivity towards the poor farmers. Khargone Collector Amit Rathor has said that police is conducting inquiry to findout why he couldn't pay the debt.

Curious case of state called Madhya Pradesh

I read somewhere that after reorganisation of states whatever was left was clubbed together and given name of Madhya Pradesh.
Somewhere else I read that trains have to pass through MP while going from north to south and east to west else MP would not have whatever little rail routes it has at present.

This attitude of neglect by policy makers is exhibited in kind of leaders we have got:

1. Our governoe - he put his clansmen as VC in all universities .many of them like asharfilal sharma in case of indore were caught doing misdeeds and had to be changed but governor has not learnt. he even wanted an ex IAS to continue as VC of Indore university while he was contesting election as congress candidate. Now just a reminder that this gentleman has been speaker of Loksabha in past.
So much for constitutional propriety.

2. Our CM - less said about him is better. He can't deliver real goods so doling out sops. No one knows what happened to dumper purchase case. at least six of his ministers in last cabinet were under Lokayukta scanner and no need to tell cases are not progressing in any of them.
Whole state is reeling under water crisis but CM is busy fighting war of words with congress on imaginary money.
A society of sheeps in time gets a leadership of wolfs

3. Our Chief justice of High court - As i reported earlier he does not have that great reputation and may be that is the reason he has not been able to rein state government for many of its brazen acts.

4. Our chief secretary - he is busy making career of his son as commercial pilot, no wonder development of state is suffering.

so all the top persons in state are eccentric in their own ways and state is like a rudderless ship

Chief secretary of Madhya pradesh under Lokayukta scanner

From http://ebhopal.blogspot.com/

The Times of India has published a report that Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has sent a notice to the Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahani after a preliminary inquiry to probe to complaints against him reached the investigative agency.

But no Hindi newspaper in Bhopal published the news. Are they afraid to even report a minor complaint or they just don't want to brush the bureaucrats wrong way? The complaints are made by two Indore-based persons.

The two persons Shri Ram Goyal and P Jain complained that the state government resumed its grant and aid to MP Flying Club after nine years only when the son of CS was offered concession for training as a commercial pilot.

The concessional flying fee was Rs 4100 per hour compared to 6200 per hour for others. The club says resuming the aid was coincidence and they give a concession to relatives of government officials

A related news

Bhopal, Aug 12 A trainee pilot lost contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC) after taking-off in a single seater small plane of Madhya Pradesh Flying Club creating panic at the ground here today.
The trainee pilot, Sameer Sahni son of the Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary, Rakesh Sahni, was commanding the plane and lost contact due to some technical snag with the ATC after taking-off from Bhopal Airport for a training session, official sources said.

Later, the plane was located above Biora town in Rajgarh district by the local police station following which another plane of the flying club was sent to guide it back to the Bhopal airport.

The plane was later landed under emergency condition at the Bhopal airport, they added

Union Carbide waste dumped in Pithampur what is local MLA doing?

Gandhian-style protest against dumping of Union Carbide waste

Pioneer News Service | Mhow

A voluntary organisation, Lok Maitri, organised a protest in Ghandian-style against the clandestine move of dumping Union Carbide’s toxic waste at Pithampur. The protest was initiated with the signature campaign and concluded with a silent protest march at MP Waste Management Site.

The members of the organisation collected samples of water from the well situated outside the site. The speakers on the occasion briefly highlighted the fact that Pithampur at present is carving out a niche on the industrial map of the country and such disastrous steps should not be taken.

A question was also raised, if the Union Carbide’s waste is not hazardous, then as to why the same was dumped inside Bhopal and was transported all the way to Pithampur?

Intellectuals and senior citizens from Mhow, Indore, Pithampur and Dhar accompanied the silent march. Pithampur Industries’ Association president Gautam Kothari on the occasion alleged that recently around 39.6 tonnes of toxic waste have been dumped at Pithampur.

He added, “The remaining 27,400 metric tonnes of hazardous waste might also be dumped in Pithampur in future.” He added that this would adversely affect the atmosphere of Mhow, Indore and Pithampur.

Mhow Consumer Forum president Harilal Saini and the vice-president stated that as per the MP High Court directives, the Union Carbide’s hazardous toxic waste should be incinerated in Gujarat. They claimed that the Supreme Court has also termed the waste as hazardous. These agitators expressed fear that harmful particles would get mixed with the air, which lead to various diseases like cancer, paralysis, physical deformities etc.

Other prominent persons like former MP Kalyan Jain, former Vice-Chancellor Bharat Chhaparwal, Advocate Jai Prakash Maharshi, councillor Mohanlal Agrawal and others also spoke on the occasion.

Indore MLAs earn more than Investment bankers or film stars or sports persons

I remember one of I bankers boasting before this meltdown started that only way to earn overnight riches apart from lottery were movie stars, sports stars and I bankers but I guess he forgot politics.

No need to get a threadbare view of affidavits ,i.e. if assets are undervalued ( yes they are) , if most of assets transferred in name of wives, children or other relatives ( yes they are) if one simply compares what they have declared in their own name then it gives startling results.

I have used this wonderful site empoweringindia.org to get the results

1. Satyanarayan patel
http://www.empoweringindia.org/Searchresult.aspx?sid=S16&cname=Satyanarayan+Patel&p=

from 26 lakhs to 63 lakhs or so , 2.5 in five years I guess we should invite him to IIM also

2.Kailash Vijayvargiya

http://www.empoweringindia.org/Searchresult.aspx?sid=S16&cname=Kailash+Vijayvargiya&p=

from 24 lakhs to 62 lakhs and he got rid of all liabilities also
but criminal cases increased from 1 to 11.
Best of luck to Mhow Junta

3.Ashwin Josihi

http://www.empoweringindia.org/Searchresult.aspx?sid=S16&cname=Ashwin+Joshi&p=

from 11 lakhs to 36 lakhs , so despite being in opposition a three fold increase. Impressive

and three criminal cases come free with this money

4.Mahendra Hardiya

http://www.empoweringindia.org/Searchresult.aspx?sid=S16&cname=Mahendra+Hardiya&p=

He beats everyone a six fold increase from 15 lakh to 90 lakh.

5.Malini Gaur

http://www.empoweringindia.org/Searchresult.aspx?sid=S16&cname=Malini+Laxman+Singh+Gaur&p=

But as is in fashion today this lady has left men behind. Her late husband had declared assets of 9 lakh but she has declared more than a crore and interestingly she also does not have PAN card like her husband.

keeping his legacy intact :)

I would have loved to compare for other usual suspects and losing candidates also but data in not available online that easily.

So next time any of this opens mouth on corruption you know how to reply.

MANIT saga continues

HC restricts powers of MANIT director

Staff Reporter | Bhopal

The High Court, while hearing the petition filed by the director of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) against his termination orders issued by the Central Government, has put restrictions of director’s financial powers and also prohibited him from taking disciplinary action against any of the institute’s faculty.

It was brought to the notice of the court that since MANIT director KS Pandey has joined back, he has made some unreasonable payments. Notably, Pandey has reportedly issued cheques of Rs 22 lakh for the proposed sports complex and Rs 19 lakh for the boundary wall erection project. The HC following this, put certain restrictions on Pandey’s financial powers and barred him from payment more than Rs 50 thousand.

Besides, the HC has reportedly also put a restriction on director’s powers to issue show cause notices to MANIT faculties. During the proceedings, all the parties concerned filed their replies as directed by the HC in the last hearing. The HC has decided March 26 as the next date of hearing and directed Pandey’s counsel for presenting the rejoinder, if any, till March 23.

another millstone in Indore's IT development

Well disclaimer IT minsiter of state is MLA from indore and has been ex mayor

now IT park was vacant after its construction as no IT firm was interested in coming, then they sold it to a shadowy company zoom developers (http://www.zoomdevelopers.com/)

these guys never paid the money ,were granted extension against rule and more importantly now in an environment of depressed prices it would be difficult to get a buyer and even if one gets he will pay less .So huge financial loss to state government not to mention a question mark on IT future in Indore

and these guys were caught by income tax officials as well so one can imagine what kind of financial due diligence was done :)

Okie now we get tag of 'gang rape' capital as well

Lawlessness ignored

Well there is no independent corroboration of this charge but I found this on website of Indore Police, someone was complaining too loudly but in veil.

This is the way large parts of west and east of Indore city have been allowed to become den of unlawful elements by successive administrations , resulting in no big business, fall in land prices and no development while at the same time popular leaders from these places were donnig outfit of 'magician' to hoodwink people and continue the illusion.

For a change congress has point

The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has condemned RSS chief K Sudarshan's call for providing education in Hindi in Medical and Engineering.

MPCC Spokesman JP Dhanopia in a statement issued here on Sunday said that Sudarshan's advice to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was a setback for him and his plans of making Madhya Pradesh a golden State. The advice is contrary to the Chief Ministers dream and is rather taking back the State to the eighteenth century, he added.

Dhanopia said the Sangh parivar has always obstructed the new generation's development plans by imposing its age-old ideology.

Prior to this also Sudarshan have made a mockery of the family planning scheme. On earlier occasions too Sudarshan has uttered unruly words about Indian Constitution asking to burn it, thus insulting the Constitution of the country, he added.

This reflects the narrow thinking of the Sangh parivar and clearly indicates in what direction they want to lead the State, he added.

On the one hand senior BJP leader LK Advani, with an eye on the general elections, is talking of IT vision and promising to provide cheap laptops to crores of students. On the one hand Sangh leaders children too are studying in reputed English medium schools and their families are openly using imported goods and clothes and on the other Sudarshan advices the State Chief Minister for adopting Hindi medium in Medical and Engineering. This exposes the double standards of the Sangh leaders.

Sudarshan should first impose the age-old ideology of Sangh on his family and that of other Sangh leaders and then give instruction for adopting Hindi in State colleges, he added.

He wondered in what capacity Sudarshan issued the dictat to the Chief Minister and that too when the moral code of conduct was imposed in view of the general elections. This is an open violation of the modal code of conduct, he said.

If the Sangh parivar wishes to impose its thoughts through administration then it should not work from behind the curtains. Instead it should contest the general elections so that they could get direct response from the people, he said.

What happened to tribal university at Amarkantak

So political expediency in Madhya Pradesh may take away only central university away from state.

Poison Arrow
Politics scuppers a central tribal university ......
K.S. Shaini

A Credit Crunch

* The MP government's refusal to allot land has stalled plans for setting up a central tribal university
* It doesn't want HRD minister Arjun Singh to take credit for it before polls
* MP was chosen because tribals comprise 24 per cent of its population
* Other states are keen on the project
* The varsity might be moved out

***
A central tribal university in Madhya Pradesh, the 'first of its kind' in India, is now on the verge of being scrapped due to vacillating by the state government on the issue of allocating land for it. The government says it is finding it difficult to get 500 acres of land for the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU). Ever since he was appointed over seven months back, vice-chancellor C.D. Singh has been single-minded in his pursuit of acquiring land. He is yet to succeed. "A situation is being created whereby we will have to move out of the state," says Singh. The university has decided not to conduct admissions for the coming academic year.

Government sources say the impasse is fed by politics. The state's BJP government wants to prevent Union HRD minister Arjun Singh from being credited with gifting his home state the institution ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

IGNTU was launched in April 2007. For its location, the Union government chose Amarkantak, the picturesque holy town where the Narmada's origins lie. The varsity was allotted a budget of Rs 275 crore and it was to become operational in the academic year 2008-09.

The substantial tribal population of MP was the reason the Centre zeroed in on the state for setting up IGNTU. In July last year, 188 students were admitted, 70 of them tribals. Graduate courses in arts, commerce and business administration were started. When requested, the state government refused to allow classes to be held in the training centre of the state tribal welfare department at Amarkantak. No reason was given.

Hung: The model plan for the varsity

The university then turned to the public for help. Kalyandas Ashram—a religious institution—allowed it to use its premises to conduct classes and the Sahu Samaj gave its dharamshala free of cost for use as hostel. The wrath of the state government visited it promptly—the administration snapped water and power supply to the dharamshala.

The university needs around 500 acres of land. The central gazette notification for the establishment of IGNTU said it would come up at Amarkantak. The state refuses to yield even a single square feet of land. Among the reasons being cited are that the point of origin of Narmada is too close; that its catchment area would be blocked; and that sadhus oppose the project since it would "pollute the holy atmosphere" of the town.

After repeated representations, the government identified 197 acres of land, not in Amarkantak but at Lalpur, 20 km away. Here, too, only 16 acres of land was formally allotted. For the remainder, the government said the selected area fell under a biosphere reserve and was the cradle of a wide variety of medicinal plants, which needed to be protected.

The government's attitude has irked Amarkantak's residents. "What is being shown as forest was a forest 500 years back. For political reasons, the Union HRD ministry is being misled," says a representation to the district collector and signed by over 300 prominent citizens. The 'Shri Narmadanchal Sadhu Samaj' approved the project in a resolution last December."This institution will give the tribals an opportunity to study at a place which is accessible to them," it said.

Ironically, while terms like "ecological balance" and "biodiversity" are being bandied about by state government officials to block land allotment, Amarkantak and its surrounding areas were studded with mines till a few years back, from which bauxite was extracted.

1 dies in police firing in Mahidpur
11/03/2009

After a period of comparative lull for sometime in the state, communal violence occurred in Mahidpur in Ujjain on Tuesday.

The trouble began after the Id Miladun Nabi procession ended. The procession culminated at Jail Road where Akhand Ramayan Path was on at a temple nearby. As youths in the proession remained on road, the police appealed to them to leave the road.

But the crowd didn't move. Tempers rose and stones were pelted at the police. The policemen fired back, causing the death of a youth. Nearly 35 other persons were injured in the ensuing violence.

The police claimed that four officers including a SDOP and a TI were injured. Heavy police force was deployed in Mahidpur and senior officials including the IG, Collector and SP were taking stock of the situation.

मुठभेड़ मामले की मजिस्ट्रेट जांच के आदेश
Mar 11, 01:02 am
