We will never improve

In all My MBA classes whenever issue of commodity trading in India cropped up always soybean trading in Indore was mentioned which used to make me proud but this news of a scam puts question mark over seriousness of regulators and market participants in making Indore an attractive place for investment

NBOT scam: FIR against 10
Indore, Jan 20: After Sattyam, a financial fraud of far bigger proportion has rocked the Indore, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh and the Central India wherein the National Board of Trade (NBOT) chairman Kailash Shahra and nine other directors of the company allegedly misappropriated thousands of crores through inappropriate allotment of shares of the National Board of Trade & Commodities Exchange.

In this regard, Economic Offence Wing of the Madhya Pradesh police have registered an FIR against 10 persons including the NBOT chairman Kailash Shahra who is also chairman of the Indore-based Ruchi Soya Group, one of India's largest soya group. Other persons against whom FIR has been registered include industrialist Rajesh Neema, G L Sharda, Satyanarayan Mulchandani, Rajesh Dhammani, Jayantilal Sanghwi, Sueshchandra Mandloi, Ramesh Mishra and A K Subramanium respectively.

According to report, the National Board of Trade & Commodities Exchange, a company floated by Kailash Shahra, chairman of an Indore-based soya company had allegedly misappropriated over Rs 15,000 crores of the share holders of seven dummy companies whose directors were under his control. " Fake documents were used in the allotment of these shares by flouting rules causing huge loss to the government," the sources said.

Following a complaint of the the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson, K K Mishra, the State Economic Offence Wing (EOW) had started preliminary inquiry into the matter in February last year and after 11 months of probe, the EOW has finally found the soya tycoon Shahra and others `guilty' of this mega financial fraud which has outstripped the Sattyam scam.

According to sources, Shahra had floated a new company the National Board of Trade replacing the other company known as Soya Board of Trade in 1999. The objective behind constituting Soya Board of Trade was to improve the economic condition of farmers by increasing production of soybean. However, later with an amendment in its name as National Board of Trade, this organization with a total of 119 members, merely turned out to be a paper tiger, sources close to Soyabean Processors Association of India informed.

Sources alleged that a large number of shares of this organization were distributed among the fake members. Major beneficiaries of these shares were 14 private companies floated by the Ruchi Soya chief.

Vivekananda career counselling : A wasteful scheme of MP government

This was started by last education minister and by reports of that time one noted "government educationist" (similar to government saint , vinoba bhave or government scientist Yashpal) was made incharge. In a state with far off colleges, teacher absenteeism and bad qualtiy of teaching education department enjoys doing new experiments.

So we have on and off 5th and 8th board.
semester system in colleges - no state in India does this.

no one is concerned about creating employment or bringing industry into state or at least getting good institutions opened up here that what do they council to rural and urban students is beyond my understanding.

to transfer land in Shivraj you need to commit suicide

ost departments steeped in corruption & inefficiency
This refers to your report,"Bhopal Collector axed" following Babloo Meena's suicide in the Tehsil Hazur Bhopal premises.(5/01).

Earlier, the Commissioner Bhopal Division had placed the concerned Tehsildar and the Patwari under suspension for failing to take prompt and appropriate action on the applicant's request. Bablu was so sick and tired of corruption and delay in the transfer of a piece of land in his father's name that he saw no alternative to drawing the attention of the authorities to his family's plight but to make the supreme sacrifice. What a shame!

I dare allege that the level of corruption is much higher in this department than in any other. I myself had to spend over 2 years in getting my piece of land demarcated/measured and it took me several trips to the Tehsildar, some of them totally unnecessary. One day while waiting for the Tehsildar I took the opportunity to call on the Commissioner, Bhopal, the two offices being side by side. He was good enough to intercede with the Tehsildar on my behalf but this instead made the situation worse as it incensed the Tehsildar that I had dared approach a higher authority. The Tehsildar sat on the case and not even Collector court's order could get me immediate relief. My complaint against illegal cutting of trees is still pending in the Tehsil.

I earnestly hope that the Chief Minister doesn't stop at ordering some transfers as has been done in present case. He may consider taking it further by ordering a thorough inquiry into the revenue cases pending in all the Tehsils of Bhopal district and very soon extending the exercise to the entire state to exorcise the ghosts of corruption. He will discover that the rot runs much deeper than one can imagine. The people are in deep trouble because of the corrupt, highhanded and lackadaisical ways of the revenue administration.

It is sad, indeed, extremely distressing that the administration has become so insensitive and so corrupt that it required a young man to take the extreme step to invite the attention of the chief executive of the state. Hope, Babloo's sacrifice will not go waste.

How Shivrajsingh harmed state exchequer

this is interesting. one can only make guesses that CM makes an announcement in heat of election which is ambiguous.
